Chris Coleman says Gareth Bale joining Manchester United is not likely |
GARETH BALE will not join Manchester United this summer, according to Wales coach Chris Coleman.
The former Tottenham man has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League with United expected to be his likely destination.
ESPN report that the Red Devils have not given up on the capture of Bale, which comes amid Ed Woodward's claims that United are eyeing new targets.
However, according to Wales boss Coleman, a move for his star man is extremely unlikely given the 'astronomical' nature of the deal.
He told BBC Sport: "You never know in football, but unless something has been going on behind closed doors that none of us know about I can't see anything happening.
"The finances involved in signing something like that are astronomical. I see the media speculation, of course, but that is a major, major deal – another world record if he was going to move.
"You never know, football being football, but I've not heard anything that makes me think he will be coming back, playing his football in this country."
