DANIEL RADCLIFFE is Igor to James McAvoy's Victor Frankenstein in the explosive new take on the chilling gothic horror – watch the new trailer here with Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay and Sherlock's Andrew Scott.

"It's alive."

Well, that depends on your definition of alive. If you mean 'terrifying, unnatural, hideous monster' then, sure.

James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in a thrilling new twist on the legendary tale as radical scientist Victor Frankenstein and his equally brilliant protégé Igor Strausman, respectively.

"I dream of a world where hope replaces fear. Where a crippled man can be healed to walk again," says Frankenstein.

"That's lovely, but it's all going to go horribly wrong, like, really badly" we reply.

Of course, Frankenstein's experiments soon lead him to a far darker side of science and faith, morality and mortality.

Downton Abbey beauty Jessica Findlay Brown plays the beautiful Lorelei who cautions Igor against the dangerous path he is on.

"There is a difference between using a machine to restore a life and to create something that was never supposed to exist," she warns.

Sherlock star Andrew Scott echoes her sentiments as Roderick Turpin.
"Be careful Mr Frankenstein, life is a sacred creation," he warns.

He soon decides on a more dramatic approach when he screams: "You will burn for what you do here."

Does anybody listen? Of course not.
These aren't the only stars taking a Victorian walk on the wild side: Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star as blood-thirsty American serial killer HH Holmes, who murdered up to 200 people in a shocking range of horrific ways, in new film Devil in the White City.

Frankenstein and Igor are blinded by science and don't realise that they are being used by sinister rich patron Finnegan (Freddie Fox) who pushes the obsessed geniuses to ever greater lengths.
His motives are pure evil. He doesn't want to get his grubby hands on just one terrifying monster, oh no.

"I have a dream of an unkillable army one million strong," he purrs, one villainous move short of an evil cackle and moustache twirl.

Pretty soon Igor, though, has his own misgivings.

"Victor, you promised me this was all about life," he cries.

"It's about so much more," replies his demented friend.

Can Igor bring Frankenstein back from the abyss before he dooms the entire world?

You'll just have to wait and see…
Victor Frankenstien is out in UK cinemas on December 4.
