Victor Valdes was left out of Manchester United's pre-season tour to the USA |
VICTOR VALDES look set to end his Manchester United nightmare with a free transfer to Besiktas.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper, who signed an 18-month deal at Old Trafford in January, has agreed personal terms with the Turkish club and is expected to fly out to Istanbul to wrap up the move within the next 48 hours.
Valdes, 33, has been frozen out by United manager Louis Van Gaal since he allegedly refused to play in a reserves game last season. He was told to find another club, omitted from the pre-season tour to the USA, forced to train with the youngsters and was not given a squad number.
But now Besiktas have stepped in and Valdes, who made only one start for United in the final game of last season, is set to be released from the remaining 11 months on his contract.
Valdes' Spanish compatriot David De Gea is almost certain to be staying put however with United sources insisting Real Madrid have still not lodged a formal bid for the goalkeeper despite their summer-long interest.
