Man Utd 0 - Newcastle Utd 0: Magpies stun Red Devils with resilient defensive display
Wayne Rooney underperformed again for Man Utd
NEWCASTLE UNITED grabbed a crucial point as Manchester United's attack failed to perform at Old Trafford.

United dominated the early stages of the match as Bastian Schweinsteiger, on his first start for the club, quickly stamped his authority.
However it was Newcastle who came closest to taking the lead but a brilliant Aleksander Mitrovic header bounced back off the crossbar in the 24th minute.
Louis Van Gaal's men struggled to reassert their dominance as Wayne Rooney once again failed to raise his level.

Schweinsteiger came off in the 58th minute for Michael Carrick as United applied the pressure  but Juan Mata blazed over and Rooney had a effort blocked by Steven Taylor.
Javier Hernandez and Antonio Valencia were also brought on as United went in search of a late winner and the Mexican had the best chance for them but was denied by a fine save from Tim Krul.
Then in stoppage time Chris Smalling hit the post with a header and following another corner, Newcastle broke down the other end and Papiss Cisse fizzed a ball across the six-yard box but new signing Florian Thauvin was unable to divert the ball into the net.
