And Van Gaal's frustrations in the transfer market have led him to consider making a bid.
According to the Daily Mail United could ask for Mayoral to be included in any deal for David De Gea.

The goalkeeper - who is yet to play for United this season - is still unsure on his future.
Real are still hopeful of completing a deal for De Gea this summer, although he would be able to move for free next year when his contract expires.
United this week lost out on a deal for Barcelona winger Pedro, who moved to Chelsea despite Ed Woodward flying out out to Spain to try and complete the deal.
