KEVIN DE BRUYNE appears to have ended talk of a move to the Premier League after saying he will spend the season with Wolfsburg.
Manchester City have been the reported frontrunners to sign the 24-year-old Belgian midfielder, who was crowned as the Bundesliga's best player after scoring ten goals and making 21 assists last season.
But speaking at an award ceremonylast night, De Bruyne said: "I stay this season with Wolfsburg."
De Bruyne's words came on the same day his manager said he expected a "difficult" few days ahead which raised City's hopes of signing the former Chelsea man.
There was some good news for City however as yesterday they were offered defender Nicolas Otamendi by Valencia.
Valencia still owe City the bulk of the £23.8m fee agreed for striker Alvaro Negredo last summer and have offered £35m-rated Argentina defender Otamendi instead.
City however have refused Valencia's request to take Eliaquim Mangala on loan for the season as a replacement for Otamendi.
