LYON president Jean-Michel Aulas has given barbed confirmation that they are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Tottenham for the £12million sale of Clinton Njie.
As a result, the 21-year-old who scored eight goals in 33 matches last season is on his way to London for a medical, with a deal still possible in time for him to take a place on the bench against Stoke on Saturday.
Aulas fell out with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy over negotiations for Hugo Lloris three years ago and harked back to those talks when he said yesterday: "Tottenham absolutely want Njie, we are close to an agreement. Thank you Daniel Levy for making a consistent offer."
