David de Gea will be absent from the Man Utd squad to face Aston Villa |
LOUIS VAN GAAL will leave unsettled David De Gea in cold storage - while accusing Hristo Stoichkov of having an axe to grind.
Van Gaal has not seen enough improvement in goalkeeper De Gea - who has been distracted by Real Madrid's interest - to re-instate him for tomorrow's visit to Villa Park.
He added: "I always consider who is saying such things and then I know why. It does not bother me. As a manager, I have to decide a lot of things. He is one of the players I sent away (from Barca) and that is why he is doing that.
Summer signing Sergio Romero will remain in goal after keeping a clean sheet in the opening game against Tottenham.
Van Gaal said: "It is the same situation. He remains out of the squad. Sergio Romero stays in goal."
Van Gaal dismissed remarks from Barcelona legend Stoichkov who claimed the Dutchman will "destroy United like he did Barca" because of his man-management style - and urged Pedro not to move to Old Trafford from the Nou Camp.

"Players can always comment but what they say is not always the truth, especially in the football world. I’m used to that.
"You hear the same things from Luca Toni (who Van Gaal sold during his spell at Bayern Munich).
"But there are more players who speak very highly about me than players who say the things that Toni or Stoichkov are saying."
Van Gaal is demanding United improve their away record if they are to be title contenders this season.
United won only six games on the road last season and had to wait until November 22.
Van Gaal said: "The key for success this season is improving away matches. We were third best at home last season. I wanted to create a fortress at Old Trafford and we did that but away we have to improve and we can improve because last year we were not good."
