Liverpool play United at Old Trafford on September 12.
The striker, who signed for the Reds in 2013 for £12million from Chelsea, has scored 40 goals in 67 appearances but his long-term absence has led Brendan Rodgers to bringing in Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino this summer.
