Leicester beat West Ham in race for Switzerland international by agreeing deal

Gokhan Inler has agreed a three-year deal to join Leicester from Napoli

LEICESTER have agreed a deal for Switzerland captain Gokhan Inler, according to reports in Italy.

 

Sky Italia report that the Foxes have beaten off competition from Schalke to sign the Napoli midfielder on a three-year-contract for a fee in the region of £3million.

West Ham have also been linked with a move for the 31-year-old this summer as well as Turkish outfit Beskitas.

Claudio Ranieri has been looking for a midfielder since Esteban Cambiasso's departure to Olympiakos last week.

They have already signed Frenchman N'Golo Kante but it is thought Inler will give added competition to his midfield.

 

Inler completed a £12.6m move from Udinese to Napoli in 2011 and has since gone on to become a key member of the Italian side which saw Napoli finish fifth in Serie A last season and qualify for the Europa League.

The 6ft Swiss star has 83 caps for his national side having scored six times.
