Daniel Sturridge is hoping to return to action for Liverpool soon |
DANIEL STURRIDGE is poised to fly back to Liverpool this weekend, according to reports.
The Reds striker had a hip operation in May after an injury-ravaged season.
A combination of thigh and calf problems kept Sturridge on the sidelines last term.
But after spending some time in Boston doing rehab work, Sturridge is set to head back to Merseyside to step up his recovery.
According to the Daily Star, Sturridge will be assessed by Liverpool head of performance Glen Driscoll and physio Chris Morgan in the States.
It is then thought Sturridge will travel to Merseyside and could be back training as soon as next week.
Sturridge is thought to be targeting a return to first-team action on September 12, when Liverpool face Manchester United at Old Trafford.
