Chelsea doctor hits back after Mourinho hints she doesn't understand the game

Jose Mourinho was fuming with his medical staff

CHELSEA doctor Eva Carneiro responded to criticism from manager Jose Mourinho by thanking fans for their public show of support.

 

Mourinho hinted Carnerio did not "understand the game" and slammed Chelsea medical staff after they treated Eden Hazard late in the 2-2 draw with Swansea at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese lost his temper as his team were temporarily reduced to nine-men because of an earlier red card shown to Thibaut Courtois.

And he singled out his medical staff for criticism.

"I wasn't happy with my medical staff because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench you have to understand the game," Mourinho blasted after the game.

After footage appeared to show the Chelsea boss fuming on the touchline, fans jumped to the defence of the club doctor.

 

Carneiro has been with the club for five years and is a a popular figure among the Chelsea faithful.

She was also the victim of sexist abuse from Manchester United and Manchester City fans last season.

And after the recent show of support from her supporters over the spat with her boss, she took to Facebook to express her appreciation.

"I would like to thank the general public for their overwhelming support. Really very much appreciated," she said.
