CHELSEA have approached Paris Saint-Germain to sign wantaway right-back Gregory van der Wiel, according to reports.
The Dutch international has made it clear his days are numbered in the French capital, admitting his future was in the hands of club officials.
He told newspaper Le Parisien last week: "I want to stay at PSG but the club wants me to go. Things are clear."
And now the same publication reports that the Blues have submitted an offer for the 27-year-old, as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his light defence.
Mourinho only has Branislav Ivanovic to call upon at right-back, and Cesar Azpilicueta is needed on the opposite flank following the departure of Filipe Luis to Atletico Madrid.
However, the Premier League champions could have a tussle on their hands with Manchester United also rumoured to be in for the defender.
The Red Devils have signed Matteo Darmian this summer, but Rafael's move to Lyon has left them needing cover, with make-shift wing-back Antonio Valencia their only other option.
