Branislav Ivanovic says Chelsea must move on from their 3-0 defeat to Manchester CIty |
BRANISLAV IVANOVIC has warned Chelsea not to panic after their disastrous start to the season – but insisted they have to improve very quickly indeed.
“This is the Premier League, every game is like a Final and we know we have to look forward.
"We haven't done well in the first two games but there is another 36 to go and we know we have to improve ourselves.”
The result came after a dreadful week for Chelsea, following manager Jose Mourinho’s public row with his medical staff following the Swansea match.
Ivanovic said: “Last year we won the title, but we know this is another season now. We play with more pressure and we need to adapt to that. We have to forget last season and start thinking about getting the points we need this season.
"City were better than us for sure. Every team is improving. But we can be better and have to show that on the pitch.
"We tried to do everything we could and in some parts we controlled the game. But after that our concentration went down and we let them create problems for us.
"They scored the goals and won the game, but we know what we have to do. We have to get better for the next 36 games and for sure we won't give up after just two bad results."
Skipper John Terry was also surprisingly taken off at half time by Mourinho, but Ivanovic insisted that the five point gap is nothing to be worried about yet: "There is still a long way to go. Every game can be like a final and you have to be on top of your game all the time. We have to improve and get the points - and we will start doing better.
"At the moment it looks big after two games, but we just have to focus on our situation, ourselves instead and how we can improve."
