Arsenal are said to be readying a £42million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to reports.
Spanish football expert David Alonso told radio station Cadena SER: In Benzema’s case, the interest is 100 per cent real.
"We can confirm that Arsenal are looking for a number 9, that they have a lot of money to buy him and that their priority is Karim Benzema.
"Wenger is ready to invest £42m to to buy a star."
And the striker spending spree may not stop there with target Gonzalo Higuain also handing the Gunners a significant boost.
The Napoli man has turned down a new deal with the Serie A side after his brother, and agent called the terms 'not a real offer'.
Nicolas Higuain said: "I don’t think we’ll accept the president’s offer, because the contract isn’t that different to the one we signed before, so for us it’s not a real offer."
Mario Gotze has acted coy over his future at Bayern Munich, revealing his poor relationship with Pep Guardiola could see him leave.
Speaking after the Audi Cup, he said: "The last two years were definitely not very simple, we'll see what happens.
"It will work out if Guardiola talks to me more often. I'm going to let everything come to me. Anything beyond that, we'll see."
