Arsenal injury update: Wenger on Sanchez doubt, Welbeck boost and Rosicky recovery latest
Alexis Sanchez helped Chile to their first Copa America title last month
ARSENE WENGER has admitted that star player Alexis Sanchez is a doubt for Arsenal's opening game.

The Gunners begin their campaign with the visit of West Ham to the Emirates on Sunday (1.30pm) but the Chilean may be left out of the squad.

Wenger told Arsenal.com: "Alexis is back in training but I don’t think he will be involved on Sunday, it is a bit early maybe.
"We have to decide that at the end of the week, but I don’t think he will be involved."

Arsenal injury update: Wenger on Sanchez doubt, Welbeck boost and Rosicky recovery latest
Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck are on the road to recovery, says Arsene Wenger
Sanchez did not take part in the Gunners' tour of Singapore after leading his national side to Copa American glory last month.
He also missed Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield last weekend.
But Wenger insists he will return to good form soon following his summer break which even saw him training on a beach while on holiday.

"Alex without running around is not Alex, you know," said Wenger. "You can’t imagine him lying on the beach somewhere and not moving!"
"He came back in good fitness shape so that is quite positive, but I am not surprised by that because I can’t imagine him lying around for four weeks and doing nothing. That wouldn’t be him."

Despite Sanchez's extended recovery time, the Arsenal boss did have some good news to report on Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky.
"We have Welbeck on a progressive recovery and Rosicky on a progressive recovery," he added.
"[Welbeck] is not too far away, but he is not ready for Sunday."
