TONY PULIS says he did not smash West Brom's record transfer fee to shunt Saido Berahino out of the exit door.
Pulis paid £12m for Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon from Zenit St Petersburg, sparking concern among Albion fans that Berahino could be on his way, with Tottenham massive admirers.
But Berahino is expected to start against Watford today, and Pulis hopes he keeps his place in the side.
Asked if the Rondon deal meant Albion would be cashing in on Berahino, Pulis replied: "No, not all.
"People ask me if Saido's going to go or going to stay. The answer is, I don't know.
"If someone comes in with an unbelievable offer then the club will listen to it. But no one wants him to go."
Pulis has revealed that Rondon is battling to make it on to the bench today. He added: "We've been impressed with Salomon. He reminds me a lot of Demba Ba. He's quick and strong. He wants to score goals."
Meanwhile, Watford new boy Sebastian Prodl admits he was talked into a summer move to the Hornets by friend and former teammate Per Mertesacker.
The duo played alongside each other at the heart of Werder Bremen's defence before Mertesacker left for Arsenal in 2011.
Prodl, an Austria international said: "Per's a friend of mine. I met him before I signed the contract and he recommended that I came here. I always watched the Premier League in Germany, I was addicted."
