ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger confirmed Francis Coquelin was left on the bench against Bournemouth because he is not right physically.
The French midfielder returned to the Arsenal team for their FA Cup win over Burnley last weekend and came on as a substitute against Southampton in midweek.
When asked why he started with Mathieu Flamini in midfield, Wenger said: "You play players in good form.
"Coquelin is physically still a bit short."
Mohamed Elneny was missing altogether from the Arsenal squad which travelled to Dean Court.
Prior to the match, Elneny posted a message on Twitter celebrating the arrival of his child.
He said: "New baby thanks allah."
