VERDICT: Watching real women working out in a real setting on screen is motivational and makes a nice change from models in a studio.
The moves are ideal for beginners because they are easy to follow.
Completing them back to back creates a challenging workout and is a great way to build stamina.
Best of all, the aerobic moves, set to modern dance music, are lots of fun.
KYM MARSH
Kym Marsh: Power Sculpt, £14.99 (store.hmv.com)
WHO?
Coronation Street actress and former pop star Kym Marsh, 39, shows us how she lost her mum tum.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Power Sculpt consists of circuit style workouts using high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and body weight exercises such as burpees and planks.
The workouts are split into two levels of difficulty and there are three for beginners and three that are advanced.
Each workout focuses on five main movements with rest periods, targeted to specific areas of the body.
The whole workout would take two hours to complete.
However if you’re stuck for time you can choose a couple of the routines and just do them.
There is also a warm-up and a cool-down and a bonus section with tips on healthy nutrition and lifestyle.
VERDICT: Being able to pick and choose the areas of the body you want to work on means this DVD is good for the time-poor.
Don’t be fooled by Kym’s breezy demeanour, the workouts are tough and you will work up a real sweat.
If you put in the time and do the recommended three or more workouts per week you’ll see results in less than a month.
CHARLOTTE CROSBY
Charlotte’s 3 Minute Bum Blitz, £11.70 (amazon.co.uk)
WHO?
This is the second fitness DVD from outspoken reality TV star and winner of Celebrity Big Brother, Charlotte Crosby, 25.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Although the exercises on this DVD will burn fat and tone the whole body, the emphasis is firmly on one area: your bottom.
Made up of 12 three-minute sessions of HIIT, body weight exercises and aerobics, each one is designed to build muscle around the glutes and shape your bum.
Good for fitness novices, the idea is to start with just one or two then build up to the whole set.
For an extra push, the DVD also includes a 10-Minute Bum Blitz workout which will drive you on that bit further.
VERDICT: Known for her bubbly persona, Charlotte is a likeable tutor which makes this DVD a lot of fun to do.
For the quickest results however, you will probably have to do the whole workout rather than just three minutes.
LAUREN GOODGER
Lauren’s OMG! Workout, £14 (sainsburys.co.uk)
WHO?
Star of The Only Way Is Essex Lauren Goodger, 29, reveals the workout that helped her drop five dress sizes.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?

Beginners can start slowly, choosing just a couple of the workouts plus the warm-up and the cool-down.
If you are more advanced and fancy a challenge, do all the workouts together.
The DVD also features a calorie-controlled meal plan with ideas for healthy meals.
VERDICT: The upbeat dance music throughout the OMG! Workout creates a club-like atmosphere which is fun but may not be to everyone’s taste.
But the workout itself is thorough and it is clear why Lauren shaped up.
Fast-paced, it is quite difficult yet the clear direction from Lauren and her trainers makes it easy to follow.
