RAY WILKINS believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should leave Arsenal to enhance his chances of making England’s Euro 2016 squad.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 24 appearances this season but he has struggled to maintain a regular starting place under Arsene Wenger.
With Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla both nearing returns from injury, the 22-year-old could see his game time restricted even more in the second half of the season.
The Sun have reported Chelsea are keeping tabs on Oxlade-Chamberlain as a long-term replacement for Eden Hazard, who is wanted by Real Madrid and Manchester United.
And Wilkins believes the England international should seriously consider his future at the Emirates if he wants to remain part of Roy Hodgson’s plans.
“I would say to Oxlade-Chamberlain: leave, because he needs to be playing football,” he told talkSPORT.
“We’ve got these massive Championships coming up in the summer.
“He’s very positive and he’s quick. I think you could even play him in a midfield three because he can go past people.
“He’s a super young player and I like him immensely.
“People use to vie him against Theo [Walcott], but my preference is Oxlade-Chamberlain.”
