Jose Mourinho's agent has released a statement after claims emerged that the sacked Chelsea boss wrote a six-page letter to Manchester United.

The Independent on Sunday reported Mourinho outlined his suitability to the post in a 'forensic analysis' sent to the club.

But Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes has dismissed suggestions his client wrote United the 'love letter'.

In a brief statement, Mendes said: "It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services."

Liverpool have reportedly agreed terms with Brazilian forward Alex Teixeira.

Teixeira is also a target for Chelsea but they have apparently been put off by Shakhtar Donetsk's £38million valuation.

Liverpool bid £25m for the 26-year-old last week when Reds chief Ian Ayre flew out to the USA - where Shakhtar were at a winter training camp.
