TONY PULIS has hailed Stephane Sessegnon for a remarkable U-turn that has put the West Brom winger in line for a new contract.
Pulis says he never held a grudge against the 31-year-old, whose Albion career looked to be over when he took a taxi home after being left out of the squad for a game at Newcastle.
"If you cut the first half of the season up, Sess hasn't played that many games but since he has come back in he has been fantastic and played really well against Newcastle," said Pulis.
"We're hoping he shows that consistent run of form, that's what you're looking for from your players."
Sessegnon paid £380 for a swift return to the Midlands in May, rather than watch his team-mates battle out a 1-1 draw.
Ahead of Saturday's game against Stoke, Pulis says he never had an axe to grind: "It makes no difference to me. As I've said about Saido Berahino, situations happen, people make big things but the world moves on.
"Things spin round, I'm not a person who, if you've got players in the dressing room and you fall out with them, you fall out with them, it's part of life."
And Stoke boss Mark Hughes says he is grateful for what he inherited from predecessor Pulis. When the Welshman succeeded his compatriot in the summer of 2013, the Potters were widely associated with long-ball tactics but they have since received plaudits for their free-flowing style.
"Certainly what I inherited initially was a big factor and I was very grateful for that," he said. "Not only was it strong on the pitch but it was strong in the dressing room as well. Undoubtedly I have benefited from that."
