JOHN O’SHEA has passed a late fitness test and will partner Wes Brown in the heart of Sunderland’s defence in a relegation crunch game against Aston Villa today (3pm).
Villa, winless in the Premier League since the opening day of the season, face a Sunderland team hoping to avoid a sixth straight defeat.
O’Shea was a doubt for the game after picking up a calf strain, while veteran Brown will be tested with his second game in four days.
Sebastian Coates (dead leg) and Younes Kaboul (hamstring) are out, while Jermain Defoe gets the nod up front for Sam Allardyce’s men.
Aly Cissokho, back from his loan at Porto, goes straight into Remi Garde’s first XI.
