Newcastle on the verge of completing deal for Atletico Madrid star

NEWCASTLE are close to completing a deal for Atletico Madrid left-back Guilherme Siqueira, according to reports.

 

Guilherme Siqueira is on the verge of joining Newcastle

 

Siqueira, who joined Atletico from Granada in 2014 for £7.5 million, has made seven appearances this season under Diego Simeone. 

But the 29-year-old has fallen down the pecking order since Filipe Luis rejoined the Spanish club from Chelsea last summer.

And now Sky Sports claim the Brazilian is close to joining Newcastle in a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Magpies have already spent more than all the clubs in the Bundesliga combined this January in an effort to preserve their Premier League status.

Andros Townsend, Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet have all arrived at a combined cost of £29m.

And Siqueira now looks set to join Steve McClaren's side before Monday's transfer deadline.

Siqueira has spent most of his career in Italy, having spells at Inter Milan and Lazio before joining Udinese.
