MANCHESTER UNITED have upped their interest in Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin, according to reports.
The Red Devils had scouts at the 1-1 draw between Verona and Genoa last Sunday.
And according to Italian website Gianlucadimarzio, Matteo Darmian has held 'informal talks' with Perin about a move to Old Trafford.
The Italian duo are reportedly good friends and Darmian is hopeful of luring him to the Premier League.
The report adds United see the 23-year-old keeper as a replacement for David De Gea - who has again been linked with a switch to Real Madrid.
Madrid are reportedly keen to snap up the Spain international, preparing a summer move if, as expected, they have their impending transfer embargo lifted on appeal.
Perin is regarded as one of Italy's top young prospects and is backed to replace Gianluigi Buffon in the international setup.
He has one cap for the Azzurri and has made 14 appearances for Genoa this term, keeping three clean sheets.
