MANCHESTER UNITED look set to make a £40million bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.

Manchester United planning stunning £40m bid for Everton star
Romelu Lukaku has scored 15 Premier League goals this season

The Mirror claim Louis van Gaal is tracking the Toffees forward as he looks to add to his attacking options.
Van Gaal is currently short on options up front following the summer departures of Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Javier Hernandez.

And the United boss believes Lukaku can offer the much needed fire power the Red Devils are searching for.
United looked at the 22-year-old last summer, but Van Gaal ultimately decided against lodging an official bid.
Lukaku has been in sensational form this season and tops the Premier League scoring charts with 15 goals.
The Belgium international moved to Goodison Park from Chelsea for a club record £28m in 2014 after a successful loan spell on Merseyside.

United are unlikely to succeed with a bid for Lukaku in this month's transfer window as Everton are unwilling to sell their star striker.
Roberto Martinez admitted his best chance of keeping the Belgian rests on the club qualifying for the Champions League rather than lifting silverware.
“I don't think winning a cup will keep the young players,” he said. “I think qualifying for the Champions League could help to keep young players.
“I wouldn't say I don't want to win silverware because that is what this club is about and our aim is to have that drive and ambition to do that, but the aim is get into the top four, and that is what we have set out to achieve."
