JUVENTUS have ruled out a January move for Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.
Gundogan's contract with the German club expires in 18 months and he has been linked with a switch away from the Bundesliga side.
But it appears he will not be moving to Italy as Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has denied any interest in the midfielder.
That leaves Manchester United and Liverpool in pole position to sign Gundogan.
Louis van Gaal is known to be a fan of the German international while Jurgen Klopp could be tempted to raid his former club for the 25-year-old.
Juve chief Marotta told German newspaper Bild: "Gundogan is a name we have not mentioned in relation to the winter transfer market.
"I do not think Borussia Dortmund want to sell the player. Why should we rely on Gundogan, when we have midfielders such as Claudio Marchisio?
"We have several options in midfield."
