JUAN MATA has set his sights on two Manchester United wins as they prepare for "difficult" matches against Newcastle and Liverpool.
Juan Mata has called for two wins from Man United |
United were thankful to an injury-time penalty from captain Wayne Rooney to beat Sheffield United in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
It was another unimpressive display, marred by ironic cheers from United supporters at a shot on goal.
But Mata is targeting wins in Tuesday's fixture at St James' Park and Sunday against Liverpool to boost confidence within the squad.
He wrote in his personal blog: "We go to Newcastle now and to Liverpool on the weekend, in one of the main games of our season.
"These are two difficult away games but we want to keep moving towards our goals.
"Winning both would be a huge boost of confidence now that the second half of the season is starting."
