AC MILAN have had an approach for Marouane Fellaini turned down by Manchester United, according to reports.
The midfielder was believed to be open to a move to the Serie A club, but The Mirror claim United are unwilling to sell the Belgian.
Fellaini joined United from Everton in August 2013 for £27.5million, but he has started just five Premier League games this season.
He has been used more as a 'plan B' by Louis van Gaal, but despite his lack of first-team opportunities United are unwilling to sell him.
Van Gaal is currently short on attacking options following the summer departures of Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Javier Hernandez.
With Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial United's only recognised strikers, Fellaini has often been used up front, and Van Gaal is reluctant to further weaken his striking department by allowing the 28-year-old to leave.
Milan president Silvio Berlusconi was originally keen on a loan move for Fellaini, but he quickly decided to do business on a permanent deal.
A £14.6m move was rumoured, meaning the the Red Devils would have taken a huge loss on the Belgium international.
But Fellaini, who has scored twice this season, once in the league and once in the Champions League, now looks set to stay at Old Trafford.
