But according to German bookies bwin the move is close with them being forced to slash their odds.
However there are also reported of talks with Borussia Dortmund over a loan move for Neven Subotic.
Klopp and Subotic worked together at Dortmund and Mainz 05.
 
Liverpool are tracking Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka but will need to make a club record bid to sign him, according to German newspaper Bild.
The Swiss international has been impressive for the Bundesliga club this season but is being linked with a move away from Borussia-Park.
But it is claimed it will take a £37m bid to prise the 23-year-old away from the club, which exceeds the £35m Liverpool paid for Andy Carroll in 2011.
