Legendary boss Bill Shankly once considered managing arch Merseyside rivals Everton.
The report that after Shankly retired as the Reds boss in 1974, after 15 trophy-laden years, the Scot held talks with former Blues president Sir John Moores and their former chairman Philip Carter.
A new plaque has been unveiled in Liverpool’s Shankly hotel that celebrates the friendship between Shankly and Everton great Dixie Dean and it features some revelations from one of Liverpool’s greatest ever managers.


Shankly wrote in 1976: “I have been received more warmly by Everton than I have by Liverpool. It is scandalous that I should have to write these things about the club that I helped build into what it is today.”
He added in his autobiography: “In 1977 I had gone up to Merseyside to meet the (Everton) president Sir John Moores and chairman Philip Carter.
“We agreed what was then a monumental 10-year deal. It was the original offer I couldn’t refuse – and I didn’t. All I asked was 24 hours grace before the deal became public to tell my chairman John Cobbold.”
However, Shankly did not move to Goodison Park and he died in 1981 aged 68.

are also reportedly tracking the 21-year-old Polish star but any move for Zielinksi, who’s currently on loan with Serie A club Empoli, will not be until the summer transfer window.
Goal report that Zielinski doesn’t want to return to Udinese and he would prefer a move to Anfield.
 
Jurgen Klopp is again expected to make significant changes to the Liverpool team for the fourth round FA Cup clash at home to West Ham tomorrow - especially in the wake of their gruelling League Cup semi-final victory over Stoke on Tuesday.
Steven Caulker is expected to make his full debut after three substitute appearances since his loan move from QPR and he could partner Dejan Lovren. who’s set to complete his comeback from injury tomorrow.
Daniel Sturridge will still be absent but Klopp is likely to start with penalty shoot-out hero Joe Allen along with Christian Benteke, Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith.
