And this has turned the heads of a number of Europe's elite clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

And Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer has confirmed the La Liga giants are in for the Poland international.

"Robert Lewandowski has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Real Madrid," he said.

However, according to The Telegraph, Klopp is hopeful he can get the former Borussia Dortmund man to reject Real in favour of a move to Anfield.

The German plucked Lewandowski from obscurity at Polish side Lech Poznan in 2010 for a bargain £3.4million fee.

The striker has since gone on to make himself one of the biggest names in world football and is reportedly valued at £50m.
