HECTOR BELLERIN believes Arsenal can beat Barcelona in the Champions League knockout stages if they replicate their performance from the win against Bayern Munich.
The 2-0 win over the Bundesliga champions kick-started an improbable escape for the Gunners from Group F.
Arsene Wenger's side lost their first two games in the competition and needed a win by any scoreline other than 1-0 or 2-1 in their final group game against Olympiakos to qualify.
And a hat-trick from Oliver Giroud in Greece set up a last-16 meeting with the reigning European champions.
Bellerin, who left Barcelona to join Arsenal in the summer of 2011, is excited about the prospect of facing his former side, and he believes the Gunners can pull off a shock result against the Catalan giants.
“I played for Barcelona for eight years, so it’s a massive thing for me and my family, who have been watching me since I was young,” he told Amuse.
“The day the draw was announced I started getting texts and calls from everyone. It’s crazy how a game moves so many people.
“We’re very excited – it’s going to be a hard game, but if we did it against Bayern, then we can do it against Barcelona.
"We have a great team mentality and our confidence is very high, so we fancy anyone at the moment.”
