JAMES CONSTABLE has warned Bolton that his non-League Eastleigh battlers will be going into their FA Cup replay with the Championship side tonight with no fear in their hearts.
National League Eastleigh came within three minutes of causing one of the great FA Cup upsets of modern times 10 days ago until Darren Pratley’s 87th-minute equaliser saved Bolton from humiliating defeat at the Hampshire club’s Silverlake Stadium home.
Eastleigh had taken the lead through Dorian Dervite’s own goal, and saw nothing to frighten them for tonight’s replay against Neil Lennon’s struggling club, who were yesterday given a stay of execution on a winding-up order for £172.9m worth of debts.
The winner of tonight’s clash will face Leeds at home in the fourth round, and Eastleigh top scorer Constable said: “That is a great incentive for all of us.
“We were three minutes away from winning against Bolton at our place. We did really well. We were gutted to be denied right at the end.
“But we know now that Bolton are beatable. We know we can compete with them – we have proved that. We saw nothing there that overawes us.
“We were only two or three minutes away from winning. Of course we know it is going to be difficult at their place. They know all about us now. But we are confident – we have got nothing to lose.
“They will be desperate to win because of the problems they have got off the field. We just have to play our game.”
