CLAUDIO RANIERI says he is not afraid to rest Leicester workhorse Jamie Vardy.
Vardy has played all 19 of his side's Premier League games this season and emerged as the main man in their charge to the top of the table - and that was despite coping with a fractured wrist and a hip injury that ruled him out of England duty and playing the final two games of 2015 with a fever.
He wore a protective cast to ensure the wrist problem would not rule him out and headed for an ice chamber to help his hip heal.
Vardy, 28, has scored 15 goals already to help the Foxes start the New Year level on points with leaders Arsenal and Ranieri said: "When I think it's the right moment to give him a rest I'll give it to him.
"At the moment he doesn't need one yet. Now it's important to carry on with him. Jamie had a little problem for one or two months and of course he didn't train every day. The last few days he had a fever and he's not 100 per cent but that's normal."
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has warned his defenders to be on red alert against Vardy.
"To succeed at this level is incredibly difficult and he deserved all of the plaudits for what he has done. Jamie Vardy has unique strengths, he combines an incredible work ethic with real pace, determination and fight to score his next goal.
"We handled him quite well here in the first game [in August] and our defenders will need to be alert because he is one of those players who only needs one chance to have an impact on the game."
