Norwich are keen to seal a loan deal for Bamford after he left Crystal Palace at the start of this month.
And the Daily Mail claim Chelsea will make their mind up today with Alexandre Pato closing in on a move.
Bamford struggled for game time at Palace and admitted he was frustrated by the lack of football.
The 22-year-old failed to score in six substitute appearances in the Premier League and three in the League Cup.
However Norwich want to bring him to Carrow Road to bolster their hopes of staying in the Premier League.
Alex Neil's side are fourth bottom, two points above Newcastle, with 15 games left.
Norwich have already made five signings this month with Ivo Pinto, Matt Jarvis, Ben Godfrey, Timm Klose and Steven Naismith all coming in.
