CHELSEA fear they may be forced to wait until the summer to land £30million top transfer target Alex Teixeira.
The club were hoping to bring in the goalscoring midfielder in in the next 10 days but, after weeks of talks, a price has still not been agreed with Teixeira's club Shakhtar Donetsk.
Terms have been provisionally agreed with Teixeira, who wants to come to London, but Shakhtar are now demanding more for the player.
Talks between the clubs are still ongoing and a deal could still be reached before the deadline, but Roman Abramovich's club may be forced to pay a premium to make it happen.
Chelsea are also in talks to try to sign Corinthian's Brazil striker Alexandre Pato for £10 million and that deal would be even more likely to be pushed through should the Teixeira deal stall.
Chelsea are also looking for a centre-back and are preparing a £20m bid for Valencia's Aymen Abdennour.
