GUUS HIDDINK insists he loves the sort of full-blooded commitment in training that produced a bust-up between Diego Costa and Oscar this week.
But Hiddink, whose team face League One Scunthorpe in the FA Cup third round on Saturday bidding to take their unbeaten run to five games and progress in one of only two competitions they have a chance of winning this season, wants all the passion and fire.
"The commitment is good but we have to control it. And they themselves have to control it," he said.
"There was no punching and that was good. I don't like it when they start hitting. I like it more when I have to put the brakes on and say, 'Guys come on, control, emotion down, control, and we go on'.
"But when you have to push people, then the motivation is too low. I like it more when I have to be alert to what happens.
"I liked it very much when Oscar put the emotion in, but he went over the top. But when he does it, then automatically his level of play rises.
"We try to punch Oscar every now and then to get him to this level. I like it when he 'goes' a little bit, in a positive way."
Chelsea were last night revealed to have the biggest wage bill in the Premier League, with a massive £215.6million being paid to players last season, overtaking both Manchester clubs.
Chelsea's wage bill rose by £25m from 2013-14, while City's wage bill last year was £193.5m, and United's £203m.
