Barcelona chief reveals deal for Manchester United target is close

NEYMAR is close to signing a new deal with Barcelona, Luis Enrique has revealed.

 

Neymar has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Real Madrid

 

The 23-year-old's contract negotiations have dragged on and reports in Spain claimed Real Madrid and Manchester United were considering meeting his £140million buy-out clause.

Newspaper Mundo Deportivo claimed this month Louis van Gaal was willing to pull out all the stops to get the Brazil star to Old Trafford.

 

And there was even talk of a secret meeting held between Neymar's agents and Real Madrid representatives prior to the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Switzerland last week.

However, speaking ahead of Barca's top-of-the-table clash with Atletico Madrid on Saturday, Enrique dismissed fears of Neymar leaving the club.

 

When asked about a possible contract extension, he relied: "I believe so, yes, I think he'll end up renewing."

Neymar moved to Barcelona from Santos in 2013 and has since become a pivotal figure at the club, winning the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble last season.
