Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Fulham’s Moussa Dembele as the Mirror report Liverpool are in pole position to land the striker.
Tottenham and Manchester United are also thought to be interested in the 18-year-old, but Liverpool are reportedly ready to meet Fulham’s £12m valuation.
Meanwhile, Gunners target Giannelli Imbula - who has a reported price-tag of £18.5m - looks set to leave Porto before the window shuts, despite joining just six months ago.
Arsene Wenger failed to land the Frenchman in the summer but is expected to renew his interest as he continues his search for a holding midfielder.
"We know that Porto want to sell Giannelli," Willy Ndangi said. "At the moment we haven't had any contact with other clubs, but we could talk to some sides starting from Monday."
