ARSENE WENGER'S signing of Mohamed Elneny will trigger the summer departures of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky, according to reports.
Elneny has signed on a four-and-a-half year contract and could go straight into the squad for Sunday's trip to Stoke.
The 23-year-old, who has been capped 39 times by Egypt, started his career in his homeland with El Mokawloon before joining Basel in 2013.
On his new signing Wenger said:"I believe he will be a good addition to the squad for many reasons. The first is that he is not coming straight from Egypt to a big club. He has an intermediary stay in Europa so the adaptation problem is less of a question mark.
"Secondly, he's 23 years old and he already has experience in the Champions League and Europe League.
"As well he is a player who is adaptable in midfield. He can be a box-to-box player but can be a holding player as well.
"His strengths are his technical level, his vision, his intelligence and his disciplined attitude and his physical aptitude to compete at a high level."
But the Mirror claim his arrival will see Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky all leave when their contract's expire in the summer.
Flamini is on £80,000-a-week and the club are reluctant to pay his wages as he is seen only as a squad player.
Rosicky is likely to want more game time which the Gunners cannot offer him, while Arteta is set to be offered a coaching role at the club.
