As many as 11 players have been ruled out for the Merseyside club over a busy festive period and Liverpool are expected to be some way short when they entertain the Gunners at Anfield on Wednesday.
However, Wenger, who will be without Alexis Sanchez but hopes to welcome back Mathieu Flamini for the game, dismissed the notion that Liverpool’s problems are down to too many high-intensity matches in too short a space of time.

“I don’t think you can explain the injuries of the players by the intensity of the game,” Wenger said. “It’s difficult to assess as I don’t know everything. Sometimes you’re hit at the moment without doing much different.”
An FA Cup draw at Exeter has thrown an extra replay into the schedule as Klopp continues to fight to turn the club back towards the success it enjoyed more than two decades ago.

But Wenger believes that given time, Klopp has the right qualities to succeed at Anfield.
“It’s always a ferocious battle no matter who is manager,” Wenger said. “They had a good manager before, they have a good manager now. Klopp has the personality to do well.”
