Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer attacks Louis van Gaal over Man United's style of play

In comments that will antagonise the Dutchman, adidas CEO Herbert Hainer raised United's approach and said it was not "what we want to see".
United which has brought Van Gaal's reign under intense scrutiny.
They have still failed to score a first half goal in nine games at Old Trafford and now adidas have waded into the ongoing debate over the perceived stagnant style of play.

The sportswear manufacturers replaced Nike as United's kit sponsors last year in a 10-year deal worth a mind-boggling £750m and while Hainer recognised the commercial benefits of the association he strayed off message.
"This success confirms again that Manchester United is not just a football club, with more than 650m fans globally," said Hainer.
"Without doubt, one of the world's most supported sports symbols. This special club has not only a rich history but also a reputation for success and the unexpected.

"Business with Man United is going very well, we sell more shirts than expected.
"We are satisfied, even if the current playing style of Man United is not exactly what we want to see."
Hainer's comments in an interview with the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung will not go unnoticed in United's corridors of powers given the enormity of adidas' investment in the club over the next decade.
They will not amuse Van Gaal, however, who has been vocal in deflecting criticism of his tenure.
