Shock research reveals certain VEGETABLES can reduce your risk of CANCER
A study has claimed mushrooms could help reduce the risk of skin cancer
MUSHROOMS could be the key to beating skin cancer, new research claims.

Rarely do nutritionists advise a diet of seaweed and mushrooms, but it looks like the vegetables could be on the cards to help tackle skin cancer.
It's believed a rare sugar found in the products - as well as seeds and other foods  - may be able to help treat the disease.

Plucky scientists at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBP) explained the sugar, called L-fucose, could be associated with melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
Scientist Ze’ev Ronai said: "Our findings offer new, unprecedented detail into the sugar’s role in cancer.

Skin cancer can be fatal if untreated

"We found that by tampering with L-fucose metabolism, we could inhibit melanoma tumour metastasis.
"Not only were the tumours affected but also their microenvironment—the cells surrounding the tumour that play a critical role in sustaining the cancer—making the discovery even more impactful."
Sugars, such as glucose and sucrose, come from many different sources and are used by the body in unique ways.
It's not the first time L-fucose has been linked to fighting cancer.. It's believed changes in the amount of L-fucose in the body is also associated with breast and stomach cancers.

It's believed sugar, called L-fucose, could be associated with melanoma
Dr Eric Lau, lead author of the study, added: "Many patients develop resistance to current melanoma drugs.
"If we can add something like L-fucose to enhance these therapies, that’s very exciting, and that’s what we’re actively looking into."
It appears the desired effect can also be achieved by adding L-fucose to drinking water, Dr Lau added.
"Our results further suggest that the addition of dietary sugar may help fight melanoma by boosting numbers of helpful immune cells."
