Newcastle and Spurs are both chasing the Belgian striker from Ligue 1 giants Marseille |
NEWCASTLE United and Spurs are in a race to try and sign Marseille’s Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi.
Spurs have already made their interest known in the 22-year-old while Toon master spy Graham Carr is due to watch him in action tonight against Bordeaux.
It’s unlikely that Marseille will want to let their emerging forward leave during the January transfer window which will be a blow to both of the chasing clubs.
Newcastle are particularly anxious for more fire power with doubts over Papiss Cisse who wants to leave for one big final pay day.
Sunderland assistant boss Paul Bracewell travelled to Germany on Friday night to watch Schalke central defender Joel Matip.
Again Schalke would like to keep the impressive Cameroon defender until the summer but Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce has made his signing a January priority. He is also monitoring Schalke midfielder Leroy Sane.
Big Sam is now in charge of his own recruitment with Sunderland calling time on sporting director Lee Congerton who had been serving his notice.
That’s why Bracewell flew to Germany before linking up with the Sunderland squad at Chelsea yesterday.
