Neil Lennon admits he was unaware of Bolton's financial woes |
NEIL LENNON says he was unaware of the depth of Bolton's financial troubles.
Bolton are desperately seeking a buyer from owner from Eddie Davies to avoid the threat of going into administration.
The Championship's bottom club is losing £1m a month and have not been able to pay their players for November.
Former Celtic manager Lennon - who took over at the Macron Stadium last October - has had to sell players and slash his playing budget to try and stem the cash flow.
But he insists he can still save the club from relegation as Bolton look for only their second win of the season at home to Cardiff today.

"It's a surprise that the acceleration of the problems over the past two or three weeks has been how it is," said Lennon.
"I wasn't really aware of how bad the finances were. And I would have liked to be maybe kept a little bit more up to date with that. I knew there was a debt, you know, but I knew it was Mr Davies' debt. But the running costs of the club I would have assumed in order.
"I was aware that there might not be money to spend but I wasn't aware that the ongoing problems that have reached this position were as bad as they were."
