Medical set for Tuesday as Arsenal close in on £5m midfielder

MOHAMED ELNENY is expected in France next week for a medical to complete his £5million deal to Arsenal.

Egyptian football website, King Fut, report the FC Basel midfielder has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners ahead of moving to the Emirates.

And he is due in Paris on Tuesday for tests in a deal which could rise up to around £7m.

 

Elneny has made 144 appearances in three seasons for Basel and has 36 caps for his national side.

He will provide much needed cover in midfield following a number of injuries in that area for Arsenal.

 

Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla are not expected back until March, Jack Wilshere is scheduled to return in January while concerns remain over Mikel Arteta’s ability to stay fit long-term.

Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey have started the last four matches in central midfield but looked sluggish in their 4-0 defeat to Southampton last night.
