Chris Hughton says Brighton's loan signing of striker James Wilson will benefit Manchester United in the long term, even if they are currently struggling for goals.
"In the short term, maybe it's not so good for Manchester United, but in the long term it's better," the Seagulls boss said. "It is part of the development of a player.
"I can imagine that fans are thinking that is ridiculous they have difficulties to score, but that is a short term thought."
Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly planning a move to bring former United striker Giuseppe Rossi back to the Premier League.
That is according to Italian publication ItaSportPress, who claim the Reds are prepared to pay £18million for the Fiorentina star in January.
The 28-year-old is struggling to break into the Viola first-team this term having missed last season with a cruciate ligament injury.

And finally, Carlo Ancelotti has suggested he would be interested in taking charge at Old Trafford at the end of the campaign.
The former Chelsea manager said: "Of course, for every manager, they would all think of managing Manchester United."
The Italian added: "I will continue to wait. Let us see next summer. I will not take a job in mid-season, but I would like to work again next summer."
