Pulis and Klopp came head to head when Divock Origi equalised for Liverpool against West Brom |
JURGEN KLOPP and Tony Pulis were involved in a heated touchline bust-up as Liverpool rescued a point against West Brom through Divock Origi's injury-time deflected equaliser.
Liverpool manager Klopp and West Brom rival Pulis exchanged words throughout the 2-2 stalemate which saw Dejan Lovren carried off after a challenge with Gary Gardner.
Klopp refused to shake hands with Pulis at the final whistle having celebrated Origi's goal in front of him and instead cut an animated figure as he led his players to The Kop.
"I wanted to go to my team," said Klopp. "We had some words in the game. Sometimes it takes more than a few seconds. Usually I shake hands. It was not a friendly game.
"He [Gardner] played the ball, a milli-second before he hit Dejan. It was like the whole game, on the edge of everything. But he played the ball."
Pulis sought to play down the clash afterwards and backed Gardner by insisting he was the victim of a more dangerous tackle by James Milner.
"He [Klopp] is animated," said Pulis. "I have been animated all my life on the bench. I have no problems with that.
"If you are going into challenges, the two worst challenges in the game are Milner's on Gardner and Martin Skrtel's challenge on Salomon Rondon. I have just watched the tape back of those two. Gards has actually played the ball.
"Skrtel has gone right over the ball, luckily Salomon moved out of the way. So you have a look at them before you start taking about our players."
