Costa has been dropped from the Chelsea first team several times this year |
TURKEY could be the January destination for an unsettled Diego Costa after it emerged that Galatasaray could make a move for the striker.
Costa has struggled for the form that brought him 20 league goals in his first season at Chelsea.
And after several public spats with manager Jose Mourinho, speculation has been rife surrounding a potential exit for the Spanish striker when the transfer window opens in 2016.
According to the Turkish media, Galatasaray are planning on offering Chelsea the chance to offload the struggling striker, even if it is only on a loan basis.
Costa has rarely been out of the newspapers since his arrival at Chelsea.
A number of on-field clashes with opposition players have invoked the fury of the FA and general public, but having been dropped, an insolent display on the Chelsea bench against Tottenham suggests his relationship with Mourinho has disintegrated entirely.
And while a move abroad, even temporarily, may seem like a quick fix, a move to Istanbul would be a considerable step down in standard of football for the Spanish striker.
Gala currently sit third in Turkey's Super Lig behind Robin van Persie's Fenerbahce and Besiktas, and are looking to bring in a big name in January to add extra fire power to their title bid.
However, with Galatasaray destined to finish at best third in their Champions League group, Costa could find himself playing Europa League football.
